Guide
Get an AI API key
POD Redesign Max uses your own API key from OpenAI, Google AI or xAI. One key is enough to start. This page shows where to get it, what to switch on so images work, and how to add it to the extension.
You pay the AI provider directly
OpenAI
GPT Image models for images, GPT models to read your crop.
- 1Sign in (or create an account) at platform.openai.com. This is the developer platform, separate from a ChatGPT subscription: ChatGPT Plus does not include API usage.
- 2Open API keys and click Create new secret key. Give it a name like "POD Redesign Max".
- 3Copy the key right away (it starts with "sk-"). OpenAI shows it only once.
Turn on billing
Add a payment method or prepaid credit under Settings → Billing. The free tier can't use image models.
OpenAI may ask you to verify your organization before GPT Image models work (Settings → Organization → General). After verifying, access can take a few minutes to switch on. You can set a monthly budget under Limits.
Prices: OpenAI API pricing.
Google AI (Gemini)
Gemini image models for images, Gemini Flash models to read your crop.
- 1Go to aistudio.google.com/apikey and sign in with a Google account.
- 2Click Create API key. Pick an existing Google Cloud project or let AI Studio create one.
- 3Copy the key (it starts with "AIza").
Turn on billing
Gemini image generation has no free tier. In AI Studio, set up billing for the project that owns your key (the key list shows a "Set up billing" link), which moves it to a paid tier. Text models used to read your crop are cheap, but images need billing. Budget alerts live in your Google Cloud billing account.
Prices: Gemini API pricing.
xAI (Grok)
Grok Imagine for images, Grok models to read your crop.
- 1Sign in at console.x.ai.
- 2Open API Keys and click Create API key. You can leave the default permissions.
- 3Copy the key (it starts with "xai-").
Turn on billing
Add prepaid credits in the console's Billing section before generating. When the credits run out, requests stop until you top up.
Prices: xAI models and pricing.
Add the key to POD Redesign Max
- 1Click the extension icon and open Settings.
- 2In API keys, paste the key next to its provider and click Save.
- 3Click Test key. "Valid" means ready. "Valid, but no credit or quota left" means billing isn't set up yet. "Invalid key" means the key was mistyped or revoked.
- 4In Models, pick the image provider and model, the analysis model, the quality and the size. The recommended models are marked.
New here? The full setup is on the install page.
Keep your key safe
- The extension stores your key only on your computer and sends it only to the provider it belongs to. It never reaches our server.
- Treat the key like a password: don't paste it into chats, screenshots or shared documents.
- If a key may have leaked, delete it at the provider and create a new one. The old one stops working at once.
- Use a spending limit or budget alert at the provider, so a mistake can't run up a big bill.
What will it cost?
Providers charge per image (or per amount of image data), and the price changes with the model, the quality and the size. Higher quality and 4K cost more than medium quality at 1K. Simple and Creative Redesign also make one short text call to read your crop, which usually costs far less than the image itself. Quick Clone and Manual Redesign skip that step.
Prices change often, so we don't quote numbers here. Check the provider's pricing page linked above, generate a few test images, and look at the usage page in your provider account to see your real cost per image.
Tip: start on medium quality. Move to high quality or a bigger size only for designs you are going to sell.
